The EU regulation electronic identification authentication and trust services (eIDAS) makes it mandatory for governmental service providers in member states to recognize and admit electronic identities from other member states, on certain conditions. The government has to make it easier for citizens and businesses to use online governmental services in another country. This means that European businesses and citizens will be able to login to Dutch governmental services available to them, using their own national electronic identity.
