Digital government act

The purpose of the Digital Government Act is to make it possible for citizens and businesses to login to governmental services in a safe and reliable manner. What safe and reliable login means, is that citizens will be able to avail themselves of electronic identification means (eID) that are more reliable than the current DigiD. These means of identification provide more security about a person’s identity. Under the act, open standards are mandatory. By instating the act, the Netherlands are implementing the EU directive on governmental websites’ accessibility.

Modernisation of electronic governmental traffic Act

In 2021, the Modernisation of electronic governmental traffic Act will come into force. The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations has published a preliminary guide to support the governmental bodies when implementing the act.
