The Government Programme for Sustainable Digital Information Management (RDDI) has developed the Information Management Toolkit. This allows civil servants to work with their teams to enhance information management. Effective information management aids the Central Government in improving storage, managing, and sharing data. It makes policy decisions more transparent and fosters trust in the government.
Toolkit contents
The toolkit comprises three worksheets, designed as a team workshop to be completed across three sessions, each lasting about an hour. These can be scheduled during regular team meetings or as separate sessions. Each session begins with a brief instructional video and targets a specific objective:
- Session 1: Developing an action plan.
- Session 2: Clarifying issues with an expert.
- Session 3: Establishing agreements in five ‘personal’ commandments.
Pilot at RIVM
To assess the toolkit’s effectiveness, a pilot was conducted last year at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). What works, what doesn’t, and what impact does it have on the correct storage of documents? A positive trend was observed: The average number of archived documents increased. Pilot participants rated the toolkit positively. Moreover, they believe its impact extends beyond just document storage, as it provides insights into expectations from staff members.
