New Tools to Help Implement AI Act

AI (Artificial Intelligence) 7 August 2025

With the introduction of rules for general-purpose AI models, the Algorithm Register provides new tools to support the implementation of the AI Act.

The new rules for general-purpose AI models have been in force since 2 August 2025. Providers of these models must, among other things, prepare documentation, regularly investigate vulnerabilities, and ensure strong technical cybersecurity.

Tools for implementation of the AI Act

The Algorithm Register now provides even more practical tools to assist in applying these rules correctly. For example, the pages on the AI Act now have their own heading and are easier to locate. Additionally, the national government has developed tools (currently only available in Dutch) to support your implementation of the AI Act. These include:

  • A practical guide to help determine whether a technology qualifies as an AI system under the AI Act
  • A fact sheet on the AI Act tailored for public sector administrators
  • A fact sheet offering a clear introduction to AI literacy

You can find these tools on the Algorithm Register website (Dutch).

Good to know

In addition, it’s now easier to export information from the Algorithm Register and save it to your drive.

  • After completing the decision-making tool, you can save your responses, along with explanations, as a PDF. This file can be used for record-keeping, accountability, or submission to administrators, among other purposes.
  • It is now possible to export overviews of requirements and measures to Excel or ODS. When exporting to Excel, your filters will also be included (which is not technically feasible with ODS).

More on the EU AI Act

The EU has published a Code of Practice to assist developers of general-purpose AI models (such as those behind popular AI chatbots). The Code provides guidance and recommendations on transparency, copyright, and data protection and security.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
