NL Digital Government complies with the legal obligation digital accessibility WCAG 2.1 AA. This means that our website is accessible and user-friendly for individuals with disabilities. WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These are the international guidelines for accessibility of web content. If you come across inaccessible content, please reach out to us us.
Accessibility evaluation
From 27 to 31 December 2021, an external agency conducted an accessibility check. This assessment, which involved sampling various pages, was aimed at determining if the site’s sufficiently accessible for individuals with disabilities. According to the Dutch registry for web accessibility, NLDigitalGovernment.nl meets the full compliance requirements of Status A.
Ensuring accessibility
We add new content to the website every day, and we carry out technical changes regularly. We have taken a few steps to ensure the accessibility of the website:
- Site manual: this guidebook describes how we place content on the site.
- Staff training: Our editors have followed training courses for digital accessibility.
- Testing: We regularly test the website for accessibility with various tools. the website is annually inspected by an independent expert,
- Web developers must also enforce compliance: Any modifications to the website executed by our web agency comply with the WCAG criteria. A new web developer must have demonstrable experience with enforcing accessibility rules.
- Problem-solving: We aim to resolve inaccessible content as quickly as possible.
