Nominations are now open for the Golden API Award 2026. The API Knowledge Platform is inviting professionals to nominate inspiring API implementations from across the public sector. This year, the focus is not only on the API itself, but above all on what an API enables when combined with an application. The winner will be announced at the Standardisation Forum Conference on 21 September 2026. Nominations close on 1 September 2026.
The Golden API Award is presented annually to an API implementation that demonstrates how APIs contribute to better public services. Entries will be judged on their societal impact, ease of use and technical quality. It should be clear how the API is used, and the jury must be able to access the application.
Anyone can nominate
Applications developed by or for government organisations, commercial organisations, open-source communities or civil society initiatives are all eligible. Previous submissions may also be nominated again. This year, the emphasis is on the combination of the API and the application that uses it.
Why does it matter?
APIs are a key building block of a modern, reliable and connected digital government. By showcasing outstanding API implementations, the API Knowledge Platform aims to encourage greater professionalism and reuse across the public sector. It also helps professionals see what can be achieved with well-designed APIs and how they create public value.
