Today, DigiHandig launches Papiamentu and Spanish on its digital learning platform. With this expansion, DigiHandig aims for greater digital inclusion by enhancing digital skills among people in the Caribbean Netherlands. The learning platform, already available in Dutch and English, includes a free app with a secure practice environment, a website with information, and free teaching materials for tutors. With the app, anyone can improve their digital skills using a smartphone.
DigiHandig is working with the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations towards creating a society where everyone can participate online. Additionally, this linguistic extension is of value to beginners in the European Netherlands who speak Papiamentu or Spanish. Local professionals and individuals can more effectively use DigiHandig in promoting digital inclusion and participation.
With the addition of these languages, DigiHandig provides accessible digital support for learning on topics such as:
- Phone settings
- Communicating online with friends and family, e.g. via WhatsApp
- Receiving and sending emails
- Searching the internet
- Using QR codes
With the translated content, beginners can practise in the app or learn in group lessons. In the coming months, the roll-out of group lessons in the Caribbean Netherlands will be further developed with local partners.
Want to get started now?
The DigiHandig app is free to download in the Apple App Store or in the Google Play Store for Android phones. All teaching materials and resources for organising group lessons, including an interactive digital bingo game on phone settings, are available for free at www.digihandig.nl/lesmateriaal.
