In 2023 and 2024, the first-ever aerial photographs and elevation measurements were taken of Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba. These visuals and data are now available online in the new Data Room Caribbean Netherlands.
Digitalisation of the Caribbean Netherlands
The Caribbean Netherlands Digitalisation programme of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) has worked towards achieving an equal digital government in the Dutch Caribbean since 2022. The new data provides an important digital foundation for improving the process of address and building registrations on the islands.
Additionally, this data serves as a source of information for many other stakeholders within or even beyond the public sector. Cables and pipelines, granted licences and building designations are now visual on a map. Similarly, it helps draft better policies and regulations in the field of research, such as wildlife or markets, for instance.

Over the past year, Het Waterschapshuis (The Water Board) processed and checked the data. Now they have also made it publicly accessible online. In the Data Room Caribbean Netherlands (Dutch), you will find ‘Viewers’ that allow you to examine the elevation data and aerial imagery. It is also possible to download the data.
The visual material was commissioned by the Samenwerkingsverband Beeldmateriaal Nederland (Dutch Aerial Imagery Association), initiated by the public entities of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba and the Ministry of BZK.
