The Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) has released a new guide that provides practical assistance to municipal partnerships in implementing 3 key information laws. These are the Open Government Act (Woo, in Dutch), the Modernisation of the Electronic Administrative Exchange Act (Wmebv, Dutch) and the Decree on Digital Accessibility of the Government (Bdto, Dutch).
The rules regarding providing information are becoming increasingly important and complex. Especially within partnerships, it can be challenging to determine who is responsible for publishing documents or ensuring a website is accessible, for instance. The new VNG guide (Dutch) offers practical tools for managing government information carefully. The publication provides insights into:
- What kinds of partnerships exist, and what their legal classification is.
- How to apply the Woo, Wmebv, and Bdto.
- Obligations regarding transparency, digital services, and accessibility.
- Responsibilities within partnerships.
The guide is intended for anyone involved in managing and sharing public information within a municipal partnership. This includes lawyers, policy advisors, information professionals, and employees of implementing organisations.
