New techniques are now available to make PDFs accessible. These techniques offer assistance to anyone involved in formatting PDF documents or enhancing documents that are currently inaccessible. The PDF Association has published three parts on this topic so far. The goal is to release a new set of techniques focusing on a specific theme every quarter of the year.
1st Series of new techniques
The 1st publication consists of the following parts:
- The 5 Fundamental Requirements for any Accessible PDF
- Techniques for Creating Accessible Headings in PDF
- A Glossary of Accessibility Terminology in PDF
Advantages
The new techniques offer several advantages. They are not reliant on specific software, demonstrate how to make content optimally accessible, and highlight common mistakes. Existing World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) techniques are now obsolete, as they are based on no longer supported software and do not effectively address all accessibility issues in PDFs.
Webinars
