Entrepreneurs have to deal with many laws and regulations. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency’s (RVO) Rule Engines guide entrepreneurs through these and help to simplify the complexity. These Rule Engines are interactive, digital tools developed by government organisations to make complicated subjects understandable.
After going through a decision tree, entrepreneurs receive tailor-made advice or a personalised step-by-step plan. These can cover a wide range of topics. From cybersecurity to mineral imports, from international business to innovation. See the overview of all available Rule Engines (only available in Dutch) on the RVO website.
Making complex issues simple
The Digital Trust Center (DTC) helps businesses become cyber resilient and organise their cyber security house. They do this by providing information, including their 4 different Rule Engines. Veroniek Bender, Web Manager at the DTC: “With the Rule Engines, we try to simplify complex things. They help entrepreneurs take action because the choices in the Rule Engines lead to personalised advice. They help entrepreneurs quickly navigate the maze of information and options.” The DTC’s Rule Engines have been used by more than 15,000 businesses.
Basic scan on cyber resilience
The DTC’s first Rule Engine is from 2019. The ‘Basic Cyber Resilience’ looks at the basic measures business owners should take, as a minimum, for their cyber security. With the help of animation videos, business owners receive advice after 25 questions. This will enable them to know what to do to get the basics in place.
Do you also want to develop a Rule Engine?
Various government organisations such as Logius (digital government service of the Ministry of BZK), Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW), the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (BZK) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) have developed Rule Engines.
