What Are Children’s Rights Online?

Children should grow up in a safe environment, including in the digital world. The UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child applies in the offline world, detailing children’s rights regarding education, health, abuse, and exploitation. However, these standards from the physical world must also apply digitally. Children should not be exposed to exploitation, online profiling, or harmful content. They need additional protection against online advertising and child-targeted marketing and have the right not to be tracked or profiled.
