The European Commission has opened the second round of calls for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme 2025–2027, making a total of €204 million available for digital innovation across Europe.
These funding opportunities are aimed at accelerating digital transformation in areas such as artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, digital skills, public services, healthcare, and the automotive industry.
Budget allocation
The available funding is distributed across a range of themes:
- €79.2 million to further strengthen, and €8 million to complete, the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs)
- €22.5 million for biomedical research and the implementation of personalised healthcare solutions
- €14.4 million for applications of AI in medical imaging
- €9 million to support industrial data sharing
- €4.5 million for the creation of the European Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Alliance (ECAVA)
- €6 million to combat disinformation through European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) hubs
- €15 million for the development of the EU Digital Identity Wallet and mobile driving licences
Application timelines
The first calls, focused on the EU Digital Identity Wallet and mobile driving licences, are already open and will close on 9 December 2025. The remaining calls will open on 4 November 2025 and will close on 3 March 2026.
Additional national funding for Dutch parties
For selected topics, additional national co-financing is available from the Dutch government via the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). This can increase the funding percentage for Dutch organisations whose projects are not fully funded by the European Commission.
