The quality of data within and across the base registries is assessed annually. The latest assessment confirms that data linking between registries remains high quality and has improved slightly overall. High-quality data is vital for tackling the Netherlands’ key challenges, such as housing and energy.
Linking base registries connects data across various systems, enabling users to merge information from different sources for their own needs. The assessment was performed by Statistics Netherlands (CBS), in collaboration with several base registries, ICTU, and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK), using Q3 2025 data.
Understanding data quality
The annual assessment provides insight into the consistency of links between registries. It shows how often data is linked and, when it is, how well the data matches. The assessment also identifies trends, enabling the tracking of improvements in consistency over time. For more details, see the CBS dashboard (Dutch).
Linking with new registries
As part of the move towards the Federated Data System (Dutch), links with non-base registries have already been established. The dashboard shows how data from several other registers is linked to the base registries. Data quality is now a standard part of the agreements within the Federated Data System.
