AI offers clear opportunities to enhance public services and strengthen government work processes. However, these opportunities can only be realised if the technology is deployed thoughtfully and if civil servants possess the necessary knowledge and skills.
For this reason, AI has been identified as a key priority in the Netherlands’ Digitalisation Strategy (NDS), with a focus on developing digital expertise and fostering collaboration within and between organisations.

The AI Competence Centre actively promotes AI knowledge and skills development within the public sector. This overview of AI training programs, created with the Platform AI & Government, is a first step toward increasing transparency of existing learning opportunities in government. Our goal is to help civil servants enhance their AI capabilities and support the shared goal of applying AI in a responsible and effective manner.
