Each year, the cabinet presents its plans for the coming year on Prinsjesdag (Budget Day). What are the key priorities of this outgoing cabinet in the field of digitalisation?
To tackle significant societal challenges, the Government is committed to accelerating digitalisation, in collaboration with other authorities, public service providers and government departments. These priorities are set out in the Netherlands’ Digitalisation Strategy (NDS). Efforts in the field of digitalisation focus on cloud, data, AI, citizens and entrepreneurs, digital resilience and autonomy, and digital craftsmanship.

Speech from the Throne
In his speech, King Willem-Alexander briefly touched on the role of AI and the importance of cybersecurity. “How do we make the most of the opportunities provided by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, while at the same time minimising the risks? How should we address the rising digital threats? (…) These are important questions, for which there are no quick and simple answers, but the government and the States General (Dutch parliament) must address them.”
