Update on Single Digital Gateway Implementation Resources

Single Digital Gateway 3 March 2025

The Association of Netherlands Municipalities (abbreviated VNG in Dutch) has enhanced the central implementation solution for the Single Digital Gateway (SDG) based on user feedback. The updated version is now more user-friendly, making it easier to edit texts, and points of interest are marked.

The implementation resources contain 79 product texts in Dutch and English. Municipalities need only check these and supplement them with local information. Then, everything is linked to the national portal and ‘Ondernemersplein’ so that EU citizens and entrepreneurs can easily find the information and local councils comply with the regulation. Key changes:

  • Dutch and English text are now side by side to allow for easy switching.
  • Users receive a notification in case of errors or missing entries.
  • Website addresses will be verified automatically; three failed attempts will be followed by a notification.

Moving to France, starting a business in Italy, or studying in Germany? The Single Digital Gateway will soon make this easy to arrange. Currently, various governments are working hard to align their services with the requirements of the SDG regulation. The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK), as the National Coordinator, ensures implementation within its member state. Additionally, it facilitates connections with the European Commission and other member states. Dutch government organisations subject to the regulation are themselves responsible for implementing the SDG regulation.

If you are involved in SDG implementation and have questions, please contact the National Coordinator Single Digital Gateway office at bNC-SDG@ictu.nl.
