The Access Provision Service, known in Dutch as ToegangVerleningService (TVS), makes it easy for government organisations and healthcare providers to deliver digital services to businesses and citizens via login methods such as eHerkenning and DigiD. These login methods are provided by public and private organisations. TVS acts as a gateway for service providers, so government organisations and healthcare providers no longer need to develop and manage their own connections to these login methods. TVS takes this responsibility off their hands, including when new login methods become available.
What is TVS?
Citizens and entrepreneurs who wish to access the personal area of a website or portal must first verify their identity using recognised login methods, such as eHerkenning and DigiD, without seeing or noticing TVS. Organisations using TVS can utilise identification methods like eHerkenning and DigiD to enable users to verify their identities digitally. Based on the user’s identity, TVS determines whether access can be granted. It then monitors whether the session is based on a valid login. TVS therefore provides a secure gateway to digital services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, while protecting against unauthorised use. TVS is also being prepared to provide access using new means of identification at European level under eIDAS. With TVS, organisations can identify and authenticate Dutch and European businesses and citizens on their portals, now and in the future.
Who is TVS for?
TVS is available to public and semi-public organisations, executive agencies, healthcare providers, and private organisations carrying out public tasks. It is also available to software and ICT suppliers that implement and manage TVS connections on behalf of these organisations.
By supporting new and future digital identity solutions, including those introduced under the eIDAS framework, TVS enables organisations to continue offering their services without having to implement a separate integration for each new authentication method.
