In order to be able to respond decisively to the increasing digital threats, public and private organisations in the Netherlands must collaborate, and have access to adequate means and capacity. An adequate approach to, and preparation for, cyber-related crises and incidents is an integral part of that. Cybersecurity incidents are unpredictable, let alone prevent, and dealing with such incidents often requires a joint effort. It is with this in mind that the Minister of Justice and Security’s Dutch cybersecurity agenda calls for a national system of cybersecurity collaborative efforts.
Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT)
IT breaches require swift action. To this purpose, each governmental organisation has appointed its own incident response capacity, and each government layer is connected to a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), that can offer support in case of security incidents. In 2019, research will reveal how the governmental incident response capacity can be strengthened further, and which measures contribute to the national system of governmental cybersecurity collaborative efforts.
