The State Secretary of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and the Minister of Justice & Security (JenV) have introduced the Roadmap for Digital Safe Hardware and Software (DVHS). This cohesive approach aims to position the Netherlands at the forefront of digital safety in hardware and software. By imposing cybersecurity requirements when procuring ICT products and services, the government boosts digital safety across the entire market, given its role as a major user of these products and services.
Government cybersecurity procurement policy
The procurement policy includes criteria for the product development cycle, requiring government suppliers to meet the Government Cybersecurity Procurement Requirements. This ensures that the government can safeguard digital safety throughout the entire product development cycle. Through its procurement policy, the government can influence the market demand for digitally safe products.
ICO Wizard
In collaboration with EZK, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) has developed a procurement tool to facilitate safe purchasing. Since April 2021, this tool, known as the ICO Wizard, has been available in its final form. The ICO Wizard allows for the selection of requirements packages that match different types of products and/or services to be tendered or purchased. It includes requirements from the Police Data Act (Wpg) and privacy requirements. Government organisations receive active support in learning to use the ICO. Learn more about the ICO Wizard (Dutch).
