In the pursuit of potential legislation for information security in public administration, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) has commissioned various studies (in Dutch):
- The study on “Supervision and Accountability in Government Information Security” examines how accountability and oversight of information security can be implemented.
- The study on “Management and Supervision of Vital Infrastructures in the Digital World” explores how foreign governments practically manage and supervise vital infrastructures in the digital domain.
- The “Legislative Framework for Information Security” study reviews the (generic) information security regulations applicable to Dutch governmental organisations. It includes rules on the substantive requirements for information security, the application of these requirements, and rules for supervision, enforcement, accountability, and governance.
- The “Assessment Framework for Information Security Requirements of National Interest” aims to advise on a framework and security requirements for processes of national importance.
- The study on “Supervision of Information Security” seeks to provide recommendations for establishing an overarching supervision system where accountability for regular information processes is included.
- The “Digital Crown Jewels – Data, Documents, and Registers of National Interest” aims to develop a framework for data, documents, and registers within government processes of national significance, which can be used for legislation on information security in public administration.
