Checklist: How Digitally Resilient Is Your Organisation?

Digital Resilience 13 November 2025

Ransomware attacks are a growing and serious threat to organisations across all sectors. This is why it is vital not only to prepare for an incident but also to stay one step ahead of it. This helps ensure that citizens’ and companies’ data remain well protected.

For Chief Information Security Officers, Chief Technology Officers, IT architects, and anyone responsible for digital resilience, a Dutch-language Ransomware Readiness Checklist has been developed. This checklist helps assess your organisation’s defences against this escalating threat and serves as an essential first step in strengthening your security posture.

Why use this checklist?

The checklist guides you through a systematic process to identify:

  • Which security measures are already in place?
  • Which areas still need attention or could be improved?
  • How your organisation performs in terms of prevention, crisis recovery, and governance, including how it is managed and overseen.

The focus of the Ransomware Readiness Checklist is on evaluating the effectiveness of your current measures. It provides a professional assessment based on best practices and the latest threat intelligence. For the most comprehensive and realistic perspective, it would be best to complete the checklist with a multidisciplinary team.

What are the benefits?

The checklist allows you to assess not only your technology but also your policies, awareness, and resilience. This gives you a detailed and holistic view of your organisation’s digital resilience. You can determine your current standing in the fight against ransomware and identify potential risks. This insight helps you plan targeted improvements and prioritise actions based on factors such as relevance, urgency, feasibility, budget, and other ongoing initiatives.

Unlike an audit, the checklist does not require certification or follow-up inspections. Instead, it aims to encourage practical and accessible discussions about cyber resilience, fostering a deeper understanding of your organisation’s preparedness.

How is your organisation performing?

You can download the Ransomware Readiness Checklist from the Centre for Information Security and Privacy Protection (CIP) website (available in Dutch). If you have any questions about the checklist, need assistance interpreting the results, or require support in developing improvement actions, please do not hesitate to contact postbus_digitale_weerbaarheid@minbzk.nl.

This checklist is a product of the Ransomware Resilience project and is part of the I-strategy.
